GREE Scores FIFA Social Mobile Game for Japan

Japanese social mobile gaming company GREE (TYO:3632) just scored a big-name title for for its social networking service. Starting today, it will offer FIFA World Class Soccer in partnership with EA (NASDAQ:ERTS) and game developer gumi Inc (see our talk with Gumi’s founder and president from yesterday).

Of course, few games are as popular worldwide as the FIFA franchise from EA Sports. And according to VP and general manager at EA Sports, Matt Bilbey, he’s delighted to bring this new social title to Japan:

Japan is a country that absolutely loves its soccer, so we’re very excited to bring fans this unique social experience that features the top leagues, stars and clubs from around the world.

FIFA World Class Soccer will be available for smartphones and feature phones, and is ‘free-to-play’ with some paid in-game content. You can see screenshots below.

This is not the first time that EA has brought one of its popular titles to GREE. Some of you may remember that earlier this year Minna no SimCity was launched on GREE in Japan.
