Heroes of the Storm will be playable in Chinese at ChinaJoy

Here’s some good news for Chinese Heroes of the Storm fans, and those hoping to see what China will be able to do in the competitive Heroes of the Storm scene: the game will be playable at ChinaJoy. And what’s more, it’ll be playable in Chinese.

Since ChinaJoy, China’s biggest yearly game conference, is less than a month away, this suggests that Chinese localization work for Blizzard’s HOTS tech alpha must be nearly complete (although of course, since development is an ongoing project, localization will need to be as well). And that in turn suggests that the alpha, which has already expanded into parts of Asia, might be coming to China sometime this summer, too.

The game will face stiff competition in the Middle Kingdom, where League of Legends is the most popular PC game and Dota 2 and Meng San Guo will also be competing for the same MOBA audience. But if there’s one game developer Chinese gamers love, it’s Blizzard: even older Blizzard games like Warcraft 3 still have a massive player base in China. Blizzard and local publisher Netease will certainly be hoping they can replicate that success with Heroes of the Storm.
