Education Startup Teamie Rolls Out New Mobile Apps for iOS and Android

Many of you likely remember Teamie, the winner of our Startup Arena competition this past February. With a goal of fusing social and learning into one, the Singapore-based startup has been making good progress since we last saw them, and today we have a brief update.
Teamie now has mobile apps that can be used to access your learning resources and discussions regardless of where you are. It’s available for both iOS and Android, with the capability to access your classrooms, bulletin boards, and news feeds, as well as view lessons and quizzes too.
We’re told that this first version of the mobile app is focusing primarily on the social interactions that take place within Teamie. But the next version will bring the ability to create lessons and take online assignments. Teamie’s Shivanu Sukla elaborated:
A big part of making learning more social & fun is the ability to making learning more experiential, which typically is done outside of the physical classroom. By proving a mechanism for students & teachers to share their experiences outside the classroom, Teamie will now enable more discussions and in-turn better learning through the platform.
As for Teamie’s overall progress and growth, I’m told that it now has customers spanning both the K–12 segment as well as in higher education – proving itself to be a very versatile solution. Teamie is expanding beyond Singapore to Malaysia where they claim to be seeing strong interest from colleges and universities. Shivanu declined to mention any institution by name, but notes that there are some ongoing pilots running with large schools in Singapore and Malaysia.
If you’re someone involved in education, be sure to hit up the Teamie website to find out more about the service, as well as the new mobile apps.
