This Week in Asia Tech Start-ups: 11 That Caught Our Eye

startups-in-asia

As usual, we have quite a few Asian tech start-ups on our radar this week, from Hong Kong, China, India, and Singapore. For folks who are interested to invest or partner with these start-ups, drop us an email — hello[at]penn-olson[dot]com – anytime.

And if you’re a tech start-up founder in Asia hoping to be featured, kindly send us your pitch here.

1. MiShang | China

MiShang is a curious hybrid, being either a neat fashion-oriented photo app, or a social shopping platform – or both – to its users. It allows sign-up via a Sina Weibo or Tencent QQ account, and places a strong emphasis on sharing your fashion and brand ‘likes’ with your friends using Sina or Tencent Weibo, or QZone.

2. WeiboCall | China

A Hangzhou-based start-up has snagged the fantastically gimmicky name WeiboCall – incorporating the word for China’s popular microblogging platform – to stick onto its free, multi-platform voice-call service.

3. Clingle | India

Clingle is beautifully designed and describes itself as a social network connecting people with the world around them.

4. CloudMagic | India

CloudMagic offers browser extensions for Firefox and Google Chrome to enable users to search across Google services like Gmail, Google Docs, Contacts, and Calendar along with its Google Apps counterparts. And the best part is that it delivers these results in Google Instant-esque way and you don’t even need an Internet connection to manage all this. It now has added Twitter search to its repertoire.

5. Favspot | China

Favspot is a location-based service that helps you check-in and save all the locations you have visited and hope to visit in the future. It describes itself as a social location bookmarking service where users can save their favorite spots and share them with their friends.

6. Flipter | Hong Kong
