Gojek launches rebrand to bolster super app position

Indonesian unicorn Gojek has rolled out a rebrand in a bid to strengthen its position as a super app in Southeast Asia.

The logo change marks the startup’s evolution from a Jakarta-based ride-hailing service to an integrated system of on-demand services, according to a statement.

The rebrand comes after Gojek hit a 1,100% growth in transactions on its platform from June 2016 to June 2019, said the company.

The move also sets the course for Gojek’s next phase of growth, which will be centered around further innovation of its integrated ecosystem.

“Gojek is now many things to many people, and our new logo reflects that,” said Kevin Aluwi, co-founder of Gojek Group. The fresh look, a dot encircled by a nearly rounded ring, was made to be versatile and interpreted in different ways, reflecting the company’s super app ambition with its range of offerings.

In Singapore, the update will begin rolling out today. Consumers who update their app will see a fresh user interface as well.

Just this month, the company officially launched Gofleet, an all-in mobility solution formed through a joint venture with Astra International. It has also announced that it will work with Visa to innovate payment solutions for digital-first consumers and Southeast Asia’s unbanked and underserved population.
