Kids can now have fun by driving while their dad or mum is driving. Yes, there is now an app for that. An iPhone app called Backseat Driver utilizes the iPhone GPS to track and mirror the actual driving route of the real driver at the front.
Kids “driving” via the app can pick up virtual items encountered along the way, and will need to turn left or right in sync with the actual car. These driving routes can be saved for future drives, and as the player collects more points he or she will be able to exchange them for better car upgrades. The ride, and the designs can also be shared on Twitter.
This game provides kids with a virtual driving experience which will educate them on basic driving skills and sense of direction while they are having fun. It is also a good way to introduce the Toyota brand to kids, hoping that the brand will stick in their minds as they grow older.
The “Backseat Driver” iPhone app is created by Toyota’s ToyToyota division, and is available on iTunes for free [iTunes link]. Below is an introductory video on the app. It looks pretty sleek and engaging. Let us know you thoughts.
