The Internet is huge and Asia has played a big part in its growth. An interactive data chart created by OnlineSchools has revealed several interesting facts about the continent and presented them in pretty package:
- South Korea enjoys the world’s best broadband quality. You may recall a report by Akamai that we wrote about back in May which stated that the average speed in South Korea was 13.7 Mbps. Hong Kong and Japan ranked as the second and third regions with 9.4 and 8.3 Mbps respectively. In contrast the world average is 1.9 Mbps.
- A worldwide social network map shows mostly blue, with a red patch indicating that QQ Zone dominates China. Take note of Sina and Tencent Weibo too, though. Microblogs are hot online properties in China.
- Tata Communications in India has a massive network that spans five continents and uses over 124,000 miles of network fibre. OnlineSchool says that it has enough cumulative length to reach halfway to the moon!
