For Team DK and Invictus Gaming (iG) meeting in the grand finals isn’t anything new. In fact, this January, they’ve already met in two grand finals where both teams have walked away with a victory. With a record of 1-1 in that sense, the G-League could be considered the tie breaker from which Team DK emerged victorious with a clean sweep of 3-0 against iG. Let’s take a look at what happened in those three games.

Game 1: Farm and push

Looking at the draft, we can see good pushing power on the DK side as well as early Roshan potential. IG also had their own pushing power in the form of Nature’s Prophet. This line up from iG, however, looked more inclined to get advantage from ganks.
As for the lanes, trilanes went against each other with DK’s Lone Druid, Alchemist, and Shadow Shaman facing iG’s Lifestealer, Visage, and Rubick on top lane. On the other hand, iG’s Nature’s Prophet went against DK’s Nyx Assassin the bottom lane while DK’s Invoker and iG’s Beastmaster would contest with each other in the mid lane.
After Ferrari_430’s Beastmaster gave up first blood at the 3:29 minute mark, teams started to trade kills. However, in terms of push, iG was in an advantage by having taken all of DK’s tier one towers by the 10 minute mark. DK’s first tower, on the other hand, came at 11:41. The trilane from iG also did a good job of shutting down the Lone Druid. If Beastmaster was not hunting for kills, iG made it a point to move in a group in search for more kills.
All throughout the early game, iG had the upper hand until a team fight broke on the mid lane at the 21-minute mark as iG tried to take the tier two mid tower. With good initiation from LaNm’s Alchemist and Mushi’s Nyx Assassin, DK won more than just a team fight. DK took 3 heroes, defended their tier 2 mid, pushed iG back, took Roshan afterwards, and forced a buyback from YYF’s Nature’s Prophet. This was all the opening DK needed. At the 24-minute mark, DK pushed the bottom lane. IG tried to struggle and defend to no avail and DK took their bottom tier three tower and both barracks. DK continued with their assault, forcing GGs out of iG at 29 minutes.
The game ended at 29:54 with a score of 12-25 in favor of DK.
Game 2: Movement against the push

Seeing the Io pick from Team DK meant two heroes could practically be anywhere, anytime for as long as Relocate is up and running. They also had very tanky heroes, great initiation, as well as survivability that would work great in team fights. IG’s lineup, on the other hand, has massive pushing potential and would bring down towers with much ease if not shut down.
