I’m Gillian Tan, founder of clicknetwork.tv, an online TV channel. We’re the #1 most viewed and #1 most subscribed YouTube channel in Singapore, with over 165 million views and 650,000 subscribers to date.

I started Clicknetwork in 2007 as a hobby, and we’re the online video content pioneers in Singapore. Back then, YouTube was just starting to catch on, and no one seemed to understand what we were trying to do. YouTube was only a destination for homemade amateur videos, but what we wanted to do was make professionally-produced videos using YouTube as a platform.

It was really hard explaining to people what Clicknetwork was because there was nothing to compare it to. The first thing EVERYONE said was “How can you make money since it’s free to watch?”

Here are some fun facts About Clicknetwork:

• Before Clicknetwork, we were producing TV shows. When one of our TV shows got cancelled by the network because it was too controversial, we decided to produce it anyway for fun, and put it online. That’s how Clicknetwork started.
• I started my company with $10,000 (that my mom gave me) and never took any additional funding.- We produce over 100 videos a year.
• We have our own mobile app with over 100K installs.
• MDA made us remove one of our videos. We did, but it ended up on another YouTube channel anyway and has millions of views.
