Chinese ecommerce store clones Amazon’s Dash buttons

Chinese ecommerce store clones Amazon's Dash buttons

Amazon’s Dash buttons, which turned out not to be a joke when they were unveiled on April 1, today popped up in a new incarnation – in China.

Local ecommerce giant JD – Alibaba’s closest rival in the country – this afternoon showed off smart wifi-enabled, one-click-to-buy buttons of its own. They’re called JD Now.

Brands shown off today by JD include Dove (soaps and stuff), Pedigree (dog food), Durex (you know what those are), and for people who failed to buy enough Durex there’s Huggies (diapers).

A JD representative tells Tech in Asia that the brands displayed on the JD Now buttons are official partners – as is the case with Amazon’s own smart buttons. JD’s little shopping gizmos are not yet out, with pre-orders opening on October 26 in a trial run across China. Pricing has not been decided yet at this pre-launch stage, he adds.
