Foodpanda Adds New Restaurant Chains in Malaysia, Preps More Cities in India

Foodpanda adds pizza Papa John's

Rocket Internet’s Foodpanda is on its bike again, prepping expansion to three new cities in India soon, and today adding two major restaurant chains to its line-up of eateries in Malaysia.

The online food ordering and delivery service will soon be operating in the Indian cities of Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Chennai – making for a total of 15 cities covered in that nation, with 2,000 partner restaurants. (Update: A Rocket Internet representative points out that the new Indian cities are coming online in stages with Kolkata and Ahmedabad starting in mid-August, Chennai added by early September. Meanwhile, in Malaysia, Ipoh and Malacca are added today).

Today’s additions in Malaysia see pizza experts Papa John’s and local rotisserie mavens RasaMas added to Foodpanda’s line-up, making for a total of 320 supporting restaurants in Malaysia. Papa John’s is already available to Indian Foodpanda users. In June, Starbucks was added to the roster on the Malaysian version of the site.

Foodpanda operates in nine markets in Asia, and is a sister site to Rocket’s Hellofood service that operates in South America, Russia, eastern Europe, and some parts of Africa. Foodpanda gobbled up over $20 million in funding in May this year.
