Mapping the key players in Indonesian proptech
Property technology (proptech) is a promising industry in Indonesia. In the country, purchasing real estate has long been popular for both residential and investment purposes. Indeed, a Bank Indonesia (BI) consumer survey on preferred investment instruments in March 2020 showed that 21% of respondents chose property investments, just below deposits at 45.3%.
Meanwhile, the Residential Property Price Index (IHPR) – the measure of change in the average level of prices paid by households for residential properties – released by BI shows positive quarterly growth, although annual growth has slowed down since the beginning of the pandemic.
What’s interesting is that several of Indonesia’s largest proptech players are related to Singapore-based companies. Jakarta-headquartered property portal Rumah123 is under 99 Group, which is also the parent company of Singapore’s 99.c0. Indonesian platforms Rumah.com and RumahDijual are both PropertyGuru subsidiaries as well. Of course, there are also homegrown startups like Jendela360 that have risen in prominence in recent years.
In this map, we track the proptech players in Indonesia, focusing on the residential property sector (the list does not include co-working players and smart-house developers). We categorized proptech players into four verticals based on the services they offer: home purchase marketplaces, rental marketplaces, financing, and property management and customization solutions.
