Shoryuken releases SF4 world rankings, 9 out of the top 10 are from Asia
Shoryuken.com has put out a new subsite for player rankings in fighting games, with the first available data naturally being that of the super-popular Street Fighter 4. Not surprisingly, nine out of the top ten players hail from Asia, though the final player not representing an Asian country is, at least, Asian in ethnicity. (Guess who! p.s. EVO 2004 parry.)
At present, only the Street Fighter 4 world rankings are available, but the site does imply it is an ongoing project. Results seem to have been calculated based on a player’s performance at high profile tournaments in 2012 and 2013.
In the top three spots are Infiltration from Korea in first, followed by Xian from Singapore, and finally Fuudo from Japan. In spite of Xian taking first place for Street Fighter 4 at EVO last year, it looks like his seat as the world’s top player is still disputed, as he did not end up facing off against, and beating the deadly Infiltration in the finals.
Perhaps his luck will change this year with his new sponsors behind his back.
