Chinaccelerator names 6 SaaS startups in 18th cohort

Shanghai-based Chinaccelerator is set to graduate its 18th cohort on December 9 this year, with all six startups in its lineup being software-as-a-service (SaaS) startups.

For the last three months, the cross-border internet-centered startup accelerator has been working with companies from India, Hong Kong, Spain, and Singapore, which all leverage AI and blockchain technology to build SaaS products aimed to disrupt the fintech, insurtech, legaltech, and media industries.

The latest cohort includes some startups that are already profitable with a sizable number of users worldwide, including leading global companies. Chinaccelerator, operated by venture fund SOSV, has helped them find product-market fit, run experiments, and build traction, it said in a statement.

According to Chinaccelerator, there was only one unicorn in the SaaS space in the US before 2010. That number has since shot up to 86 as of 2020. The company also noted that this year, the Indian SaaS industry has grown 1.5x faster than its global counterparts.

“This year was a tipping point for the Asian SaaS ecosystem. Covid-19 has pushed companies to digitize their operations, which has been key to accelerating the adoption of SaaS solutions regionally,” said Chinaccelerator partner and managing director Oscar Ramos.

The startup in the latest batch are:

  • Toch, an Indian startup that allows video content owners to automatically analyze and edit videos in real time for content moderation, ad insertion, and sports highlights
  • CodeJudge, a startup from India helping tech companies choose the best developers through building projects and real-time skills evaluation
  • Ignatica, a Hong Kong-based startup enabling insurers to quickly create, launch, and promote new insurance products, lowering costs by 60% and increasing time to market by 4x
  • BuildPan, an Indian firm helping mobile app developers build, integrate, test, deploy, and utilize user feedback synchronously across Android and iOS
  • Klaud9, a photographer-on-demand marketplace from Singapore that matches corporates with photographers around the world that deliver style-consistent photos in 24 hours
  • MikeLegal, an AI-powered legaltech firm in India that helps law firms and corporates automate legal research for trademarks and intellectual property

Started in 2010, Chinaccelerator is a mentor- and data-driven program that helps internet startups grow and expand to global markets. To date, it has invested in over 160 startups, including cryptocurrency unicorn BitMEX.
