Singapore biotech firm raises $30m for US expansion

TurtleTree, a Singapore-based biotech startup, has raised US$30 million in the first tranche of its latest funding round.

  • The round pushes TurtleTree’s total amount raised from investors to date to over US$40 million. The company says that the latest round marks one of the largest investments for a cell-based food company in Asia.
  • TurtleTree will use the fresh money for hiring and research purposes.
  • The funds will also help the firm’s expansion to the US, following the launch of a research and development facility in Sacramento last September.
  • In December last year, the company raised US$6.2 million in pre-series A funding from Green Monday Ventures, Eat Beyond Global, KBW Ventures, and Verso Capital.
