SGX taps NYSE to make dual listings to both exchanges easier

The Singapore Exchange (SGX) has signed a new agreement to collaborate with the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in helping companies list in both markets.

In a statement, both stock exchanges said that dual listings can benefit companies that want to tap into pools of capital outside their home regions. The SGX and NYSE will also partner in developing new products and services to support listed companies and investor communities, such as those focused on exchange-traded funds and environmental, social, and governance activities.

According to Loh Boon Chye, CEO of SGX, the deal aims to provide access to capital and develop new investment solutions.

The partnership may also pave the way for Singapore-based tech startups that are currently listed on the NYSE but not on the SGX, such as Sea Group and PropertyGuru, to go public in their home country.

In September last year, the Singapore government announced a series of initiatives to support and attract companies to list on the SGX, which include establishing a co-investment fund, setting up a growth fund for IPOs, and enhancing the Grant for Equity Market Singapore scheme. Some of the funds are backed by global investors like Temasek and EDBI.
