The deal will also see the payments operator combine its tech with Handprint to expand its reach.
Handprint offers software that allows businesses to track the environmental impact of its payments processes and ecommerce tools. It claims to have reduced intermediary costs for projects by 80%.
The company’s clients include ecommerce firm Lazada, which has linked tree planting to digital slot confirmations for its digital events, and media company Teads, which has allocated 5% of clients’ advertising spend to Handprint-verified projects. Handprint has also helped food chain SaladStop integrate reforestation into its checkout system.
Handprint was founded by Matthias Boissonot and Simon Schillebeeckx in 2020. Its latest raise will fund the expansion of its tech development and impact partners network.
“For decades, companies have focused their attention on reducing harm and offsetting their negative footprint. We need a new approach,” said Boissonot.
