California-based messaging platform SendBird has raised an additional US$50 million for its series B round. It initially bagged US$52 million in February this year.
Tiger Global Management led the latest funding, with participation from Iconiq Capital, which led the previous investment.
SendBird, which allows businesses to build custom chat applications, will use the new funds to speed up its go-to-market strategy and scale its operations globally. Recently, it has opened new offices in Singapore, London, and India.
“Starting from marketing and sales, we are building the go-to-market engine to scale our global presence by hiring leaders in key areas of the business and building teams around those leaders. To accelerate this process, we’re working with our new investors for series B, who have made many investments in our target markets and built strong connections there,” SendBird CEO John S. Kim said in a statement.
SendBird counts Singapore-based ecommerce platform Carousell, Indonesian ride-hailing giant Go-Jek, and Indian fantasy sports app Dream11 among its marquee clients, it said.
