- With the new funds, the Singapore-based firm will expand to the Philippines to help improve internet distribution in the country, which is of “heightened relevance to Filipinos as more Filipinos become reliant on internet access for their livelihood and social connections,” said Kickstart Ventures president Minette Navarrete.
- The latest investment comes after Transcelestial closed nearly US$10 million in a series A funding round co-led by Wavemaker Partners and EDBI in July last year. Additional investors of the startup include Seeds Capital, Entrepreneur First, 500 Startups, and Y-Combinator CEO Michael Seibel, among others.
- Kickstart Ventures is a corporate VC unit that is wholly owned by Globe Telecom, the Philippines’ leading mobile operator.
