Second God of Destiny closed beta starts in Taiwan, introduces three new heroes

Taiwanese MOBA God of Destiny (GOD) entered its second round of closed beta testing last week on April 30, introducing new heroes and a new client to beta testers.

Apart from a ranking list and optimized 3D hero models, GOD now also has a league system and a matchmaking system. Three new heroes were also introduced: Gold Horn, Gluttony, and Thunder Kid. There is also a new single-lane map called Abyssal Edge.

The three new heroes may not seem familiar to westernized gamers, but rest assured that they do hail from myth and legend.

Gold Horn

Gold Horn is one of two demon brothers from the Chinese novel, Journey to the West. Together with his brother, Silver Horn, Gold Horn had planned to capture Tang Xuanzang, invite their mother, and then feast on the monk’s flesh. Fortunately, Sun Wukong intercepted the demon mother during her journey and impersonated her to save Xuanzang.

Gluttony

Gluttony is one of the Seven Deadly Sins of the Catholic Church. The character speaks for itself!

Thunder Kid

Thunder Kid is a character from the Chinese novel 封神演義, or Investiture of the Gods. Created by a thunderstorm atop a mountain, Thunder Kid was adopted by humans but later reclaimed as an immortal’s disciple to prepare him for his instrumental role in creating the new Zhou dynasty. According to the story, Thunder Kid is supposed to have a monstrous face and a pair of wings.
