Intudo, Beenext co-lead $2.2m funding of Indonesian mobile cafe firm

Jago Coffee, an Indonesia-based mobile cafe startup, has raised US$2.2 million in a pre-series A funding round led by Intudo Ventures and Beenext, with participation from CyberAgent Capital and Arkblu Capital.

Founded in 2020, Jago offers ready-to-drink coffee via its app. When riders arrive at the destination, they turn their mobile carts into a “mini cafe” and – if the customer is ordering a hot beverage – they brew the drink on the spot. The carts also come with a mobile freezer to store cold beverages.

The company was founded by Yoshua Tanu and his relative Christopher Oentojo. The former is a co-founder of premium coffee chain Common Grounds while the latter served as vice president of product at Gojek.

Recently, Daniel Sidik – co-founder of Korean-style hotdog chain Reddog – joined Jago as chief operating officer and chief marketing officer.

The startup plans to use the fresh funding to hire more employees and increase the number of its mobile cafes to 200 carts, which will cover 20 hyperlocal areas in Jakarta.

Last year, Jago raised US$250,000 in pre-seed funding from Beenext and Prasetia Dwidharma, as well as from coffee entrepreneur Hidenori Izaki.
