Hello readers,

Earlier this week, I found myself on a Google search for famous sayings about startups. I was looking for quotes about what makes for a successful startup from the likes of Mark Zuckerberg or Jack Ma to use as an opening for a documentary we’re working on.

However, instead of finding pithy pearls of wisdom, I unearthed page after page of what can only be described as fluff.

Here’s one example: The slogan of the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in 2005 was “Innovation leads to innovation.”

That was the most innovative thing they could come up with. Yes, really.

I’ve given up on my quote search, but I’d love to hear from you. What’s your favorite ridiculous saying about startups?

You can find all other important investment deals that happened in the last few days in our weekly funding news wrap-up.
