Rumor: Kinect-less Xbox One to cost RMB 2999 ($480) in China

The Xbox One, which is coming to China this September, still doesn’t have an official price. But this might be a good sign: the rumored price for the device is dropping! A couple months ago, the web was abuzz with rumors that the console would cost 4999 RMB (about $820).

Now, though, there are new rumors in town. According to Netease Games, the latest rumor is that the Kinect-enabled console will cost RMB 3599 (about $577), and the Kinect-less device will cost just RMB 2999 ($480), and come bundled with several games.

Of course, those prices are still quite a bit higher than prices in Microsoft’s home United States, where the Kinect-enabled console costs just $500 and the Kinect-less device costs $400. But these rumored Chinese prices are close enough to be believable, and given that the RMB 3599 price has popped up in photographs (like the one above), there’s a decent chance these are the real numbers.

That said, at the moment these are still very much rumors. Microsoft still hasn’t announced the Xbox One’s China price.
