🇮🇳 Roundup: BigBasket ramps up quick-commerce offering

Startups in India, including Newton School, Mylo, Nat Habit, and DCGpac, raised at least US$47.5 million in disclosed funding in the last 24 hours from investors.

BigBasket expands quick-commerce offering

The Tata-backed company will expand its market coverage in the quick-commerce segment.

BBNow offers 10- to 20-minute deliveries within a 2.5-kilometer radius, with access to an inventory of over 3,000 products. BBExpress promises deliveries within an hour for consumers within a 6-kilometer radius, offering a choice of over 8,000 products.

The company did not set a cap on the number of products that one can order through these platforms. However, Bigbasket said that typical order sizes average between three to five products for quick commerce deliveries.

Cloudera to pour over US$65 million into India

The cloud services provider has set up a facility in Bengaluru as part of its growth efforts.

The company’s expansion in the country will also involve more engineering- and product development-related hires over the next few years to support the facility’s growth.

Cloudera said that the facility’s core capabilities include public cloud, software development, product security, data warehousing, and machine learning, among other things.
