Rising startups on Tech In Asia: agritech, insurtech, and plenty of subscription services

Which are the startups that are on the path to becoming the next big thing? In this regular post, we give you an overview of the companies that have raised money in the past week, as well as those we think investors should look at.

1. TaniGroup (Indonesia)

Agritech startup TaniGroup raised US$10 million in a series A funding round led by Openspace Ventures with participation from Intudo Ventures, Golden Gate Ventures, and The DFS Lab. The funds will go towards speeding up product development and expanding the startup’s reach across Indonesia. More info.

2. Singapore Life (Singapore)

Singapore Life, a tech-driven insurance company, has received a US$7.3 million investment from asset management company Ion Pacific. Singapore Life’s original shareholders, as well as insurance companies Aflac and Standard Life Aberdeen, participated in the investment. More info.

3. Brazn (Singapore)

Brazn, an Internet-of-things platform builder, raised US$3.65 million in seed funding from Tin Men Fund I. The startup is working on solutions for secure facilities, smart retail, and agriculture. More info.

4. Greenhouse (Indonesia)

Greenhouse, a co-working and events solutions provider, raised around US$2.7 million in a bridge round led by seven new investors and seven existing investors. The company is looking to launch co-working spaces in the Philippines and Singapore. More info.

5. Airblack (India)

Travel startup Airblack raised US$1.5 million in seed funding from SAIF Partners. Airblack will use the funds to launch its product, grow its customer base, and expand its team. More info.

6. Ampotech (Singapore)

Internet-of-things startup Ampotech raised US$725,000 in a seed funding round led by Silicon Solution Ventures with participation from SEEDs Capital and PT Prasetia Dwidharma. The fresh funds will be used for product and market expansion. More info.

7. Salutat (Thailand)

Salutat, an intelligent customer communication platform targeting financial institutions, has raised its first funding round. The six-figure seed round came from 500 Startups, Expara Ventures, Startupbootcamp, IIX, and a few angel investors. More info.

8. Gradana (Indonesia)

Proptech and fintech platform Gradana raised pre-series A funding for an undisclosed amount led by Tryb Group. The funding will be used to expand the startup’s market presence in Indonesia and speed up its product development. More info.

9. Boxgreen (Singapore)

Boxgreen, a healthy snack delivery service, raised an undisclosed amount of pre-series A funding from Octava Impact Investment, Angel Central Syndicate, and Expara Ventures. The funds will be used to expand the company’s manufacturing and distribution operations. More info.

10. System Stone (Thailand)

System Stone provides a software and hardware service that monitors manufacturing machines and helps them run more efficiently. The startup has raised an undisclosed amount of pre-series A funding from Singapore-based Expara. More info.

11. Wisepass (Vietnam)

Wisepass offers an all-encompassing subscription to different lifestyle products and services, such as coffee and movie tickets. It is available in over 300 venues in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Bangkok, and Manila. It’s closing a series A round. More info.

12. RevoU (Indonesia)

RevoU is a startup school founded by Matteo Sutto, who has held senior roles in Zalora and iPrice. The company runs an online tech education platform. More info.

13. Performance Rotors (Singapore)

Drone startup Performance Rotors, received an undisclosed amount of funding from She1K, institutional investors, and angel investors. She1K is a global network that allows women executives to pool funds for angel investing. More info.

Edukasyon.ph helps students make better-informed educational choices. It provides information on local and overseas universities, courses, and scholarships. More info.
