Dear readers,
It seems everyone is gunning for a slice of the fintech pie these days. Last week, I peered behind the scenes at Lippo Group’s Ovo, which quickly became the most popular e-wallet in Indonesia with some help from BCGDV – a venture builder established by a major consulting firm.
BCGDV is stamping its mark in Southeast Asia, and as a result, fewer corporations may waste money on fruitless innovation endeavors.
Staying within the fintech lane, Melissa Goh looked at Razer’s payments platform, which did a grand unveiling last week. Razer Fintech took off with a boost from its partnership with property developer Berjaya Corporation – see any similarities to Ovo yet?
A challenge for Razer will be to replicate its traction in Malaysia across the region – which has entrenched competitors.
