Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta, the parent firm of Facebook, is building a “top-level product group” on generative AI to “turbocharge our work in this area.”
Zuckerberg said that in the short term, his newly created team will focus on incorporating AI into Meta’s core products like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
In the long run, Meta wants to develop “AI personas” that can help users in “a variety of ways” without disclosing specifics.
The generative AI race among the world’s biggest names in tech has shown no sign of slowing down. Tencent has reportedly created a team dedicated to building its ChatGPT-like AI bot, which is rumored to be named HunyuanAide. Zoom also said it wants to “jump on the AI bandwagon,” Reuters reported.
