Rocket Internet’s price comparison site Pricepanda launches in Thailand

Last January Rocket Internet’s price comparison site Pricepanda secured US$3 million in funding to expand in Southeast Asia. As promised, today the company launched in Thailand, marking the third country Pricepanda expanded to this year following Argentina and Columbia.

This launch has been long anticipated, as Pricepanda’s global CEO Christian Schiller told Tech in Asia back in November 2013 that the company would be coming to Thailand soon.

According to Schiller, the company hopes to tap into Thailand’s 66 million residents, particularly its fast-growing middle class.

As the number of online shops is constantly rising, customers need our support when looking for the right deal. But we also support the online shops as we redirect customers to their website and therefore help them to increase their sales.

However, it might not be so easy for Pricepanda to take over the Thai market, as a local player Priceza is currently the number one price comparison site in the country. Also available in Indonesia, the Thailand-based startup has over 2.5 million active unique visitors each month.

In Asia, besides Thailand, Pricepanda is also available in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
