Xiaomi fans in Singapore can now go 4G with the new Redmi Note

Singaporeans love their Xiaomi smartphones. Here’s proof: the launch of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note here about four months ago saw 5,000 units of the 5.5-inch phablet selling out in an astonishing 42 seconds.

The Chinese smartphone company will hope to go one better on November 18 when its brand spanking new Redmi Note 4G debuts in the island-state for S$229 (US$183). According to an official statement, a specially-tailored version of the phablet was created for the Southeast Asian market due to the differences in China and Singapore’s 4G networks.

Similar to the original Redmi Note, it will feature a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, a 3100mAh battery, and a 13-megapixel camera. The 4G version will however be 10g lighter than its predecessor, be powered by a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, and run on MIUI v5 based on Android 4.4 KitKat. Oh, and it only has a single SIM card slot now, too.

Keen to own one of these? The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G will be up for grabs next week, in the usual lunchtime flash sales format that Xiaomi is famous for.
