Bukalapak brings Mitra to the Philippines quietly

Bukalapak, the Indonesia-based ecommerce firm, has quietly entered the Philippines market with its Mitra service, which is called SmartSari in the country.

Bukalapak established SmartSari in the Philippines in April, according to its annual report.

According to the LinkedIn page of an employee, SmartSari is “an expansion of Mitra Bukalapak in the Philippines.”

The SmartSari app is available on the Google Play Store and has been downloaded over 50,000 times. Based on the service’s social media accounts, it seems that the app has been operational since July.

Like Mitra Bukalapak, SmartSari also supports small shops to go digital by selling phone credits and game credits. SmartSari is also planning to launch other features such as bill payments, grocery shopping, and travel ticket booking, according to its website.
