Pine Labs hires former Flipkart, PayPal exec as CTO

Pine Labs, an India-based merchant commerce platform, has appointed Phanimohan Kalagara as its new chief technology officer.

Experience:

• Before joining Pine Labs, Kalagara was the senior vice president of product and engineering at Flipkart for two years. 
• He also spent 12 years with global fintech firm PayPal, where he led the product and engineering team. He also worked on several key assignments in the US for PayPal over a period of nearly eight years.

More details:

• The appointment comes amid Pine Labs’ plans to scale its buy now, pay later product to international markets.
• In April, Pine Labs acquired Southeast Asian fintech firm Fave in a cash and stock deal valued at over US$45 million. (Read: Fave bounces back from Covid-19, cuts losses)
