Line reportedly has 14 million active users in Indonesia, will launch physical store soon

(Update: Yes, it is very coincidental that Line’s userbase grew from 14 million registered users to 14 million active users. A Line representative has reconfirmed that the figure is correct, but did not disclose whether it is daily active users or monthly active users. We’ll leave it to readers to decide how reliable the number is.)
Japan-based messaging app Line today announced that it has reached 300 million registered users. The company also reveals today that it now has 14 million active users in Indonesia, which is nice progress considering just three months ago the country had about 14 million registered users.
Furthermore, Line will open a physical store in Indonesia to sell Line merchandises and accessories in the upcoming Christmas season. It should be a nice marketing boost to promote Line at street level and encourage new sign-ups.
Line is facing tough competition in the chat app battleground in Indonesia against BlackBerry Messenger, WhatsApp, WeChat, KakaoTalk, and several more.
