Renmaiku.com is an executive search engine for the Chinese business community. Users do not need to login to use its search feature, which allows them to search for the contact information of various Chinese execs.
I’m liking the fast and clean search results that give users exactly what they want — names and their contact details.
Of course, this also means that spammers could use Renmaiku as a tool to mine contact data. How much to reveal is entirely up to the users though. Some just show their profile pic and names without inputting their contact details.
Others are fine with listing their email, number, and QQ contact. Most profiles do require you to register and log in before you can see the full details of other members.
In some way, the service works a little like Tianji or LinkedIn, both of whom have executive personnel search functions. But Tianji and LinkedIn, in my opinion, focus more on creating an online business network rather than on search. Renmaiku, on the other hand, focuses more on search but also has a simple Weibo-like networking component.
The Renmaiku homepage looks neat with a clean search bar that allows users to search for names, companies, etc. The search results page then offers other search details like interests, location, and areas of expertise. For example, it’s pretty easy to find someone to help you work on Baidu SEO via Renmaiku.
The Chinese executive search engine doesn’t seem to have a business model yet. One would assume that ads — like the ones we see on Baidu or Google — would be one of the most direct methods to monetize search keywords, putting paid results at the top of the results page.
The only problem I have with the site is that it takes almost forever to sign up for an account. But that could just be my problem. Otherwise, I must say Renmaiku is a pretty handy tool to get contacts real quick in China.
