Uber opens waitlist for Waymo driverless rides in Austin

Uber has opened a waitlist for customers in Austin to book driverless rides with Waymo, a self-driving tech company.

The service is set to launch later this year.

Starting Feb. 5, users can join the list via the Uber app for updates and a better chance at securing a ride.

The service will initially cover a 37-square-mile area, including Hyde Park and downtown, with plans to expand.
