Taiwan to review TSMC investment in US, gov’t says

The Taiwanese government will evaluate its strategic position in the global semiconductor industry and TSMC growth while reviewing the company’s proposed investments in the US.

Cabinet spokesperson Michelle Lee said that Taiwan supports overseas investments that enhance its industries and competitiveness.

TSMC plans to invest US$100 billion in the US. This includes the construction of five additional chip manufacturing facilities in the coming years.

The announcement was made by the company’s CEO alongside former US President Donald Trump on Mar.3, 2025.
