Taiwan’s Economy Minister Kuo Jyh-huei said on Feb.25 that the ministry has not received any information regarding an overseas investment application from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC).

This statement follows United States media reports indicating TSMC may be in discussions to invest in Intel, a claim neither TSMC nor Intel has confirmed.

Kuo emphasized that significant foreign investments by Taiwanese companies require approval from the economy ministry’s investment review commission.

“Because it involves foreign investment, it would go through our investment commission. So far, we have not received any information, so I have no way to comment on this issue,” he said during a press event in Taipei.
