Amazon improves US warehouse safety after settlement
Amazon has agreed to implement additional safety measures at its United States facilities following ten complaints filed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regarding worker injuries, including back and ergonomic issues.
The settlement, which resolves the complaints, will introduce features like adjustable-height workstations, ergonomic mats, harnesses, and job rotations. A process will also be established to address hazards identified by employees.
The settlement includes penalties of US$145,000, roughly 90% of what OSHA initially sought.
Nine of the ten complaints were withdrawn, with the remaining case focused on a warehouse in Illinois and the handling of bulky items.
