VinBrain, an AI healthcare company funded by conglomerate VinGroup, has announced an official partnership with Microsoft to improve the Vietnamese firm’s AI capabilities and products.

Through Microsoft Azure, the collaboration will enhance data sharing and security for VinBrain’s DrAid, its AI software for X-ray diagnostics. The company’s medical imaging software currently owns a data set with 2.3 million images.
With Azure Cognitive Services for Vision, VinBrain’s developer team can access and develop AI capabilities to increase the accuracy rate of medical imaging for DrAid. Last year, the Vietnamese company said DrAid was cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration.
VinBrain said nearly 2,000 doctors are currently using DrAid at more than 100 hospitals across Vietnam, including those with the largest patient traffic such as 108 Military Central Hospital, 199 Hospital, and Vietnam National Cancer Hospital.
Microsoft is betting big on AI despite recently cutting 10,000 jobs. The firm is set to integrate ChatGPT into its app development suite Azure OpenAI Service after investing US$10 billion in OpenAI, the chatbot’s developer.
