Microsoft Helps Indonesia’s Development Through Entrepreneurship

Microsoft will be assisting in Indonesia’s Economic Masterplan through the “Masterplan Percepatan dan Perluasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Indonesia” (or MP3EI).

Under this program, the company will provide human resource development and innovative thinking by promoting entrepreneurship activities within the country. Hatta Rajasa from the Ministery of Economic Affairs said, “They really want to cooperate, especially on higher education, because it is the key to our success in developing innovation.”

Microsoft will initiate the program by providing training for budding entrepreneurs to build and create their own companies. The company will also be involved in the development of micro-businesses by providing training and funding. From what we have observed, a remarkable number of technology-based start-ups have emerged over the years in Indonesia. With this partnership, the government hopes start-ups can leverage on human resources support to build a sustainable economic growth in years to come.

As Microsoft representative Orlando Ayala explained:

Our target later in 2025, is to participate in the computerized system of government that provides efficient technologies throughout the country and plays a role in all fields such as health and public services.

Previously Microsoft signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education to improve the quality of education. This latest step is another positive sign that it intends to bring business to the nation in a mutually beneficial manner.
