The company also shared that its gross merchandise value in 2022 surpassed pre-Covid levels. For 2023, it sees Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan as its top five markets.

The firm expects international travel to fully recover by the middle of this year.

“2022 was our biggest and strongest year as we doubled down on domestic travel and digital transformation of the tourism industry. As international borders reopen, we saw a surge in traveler demand,” KKday founder and CEO Ming Chen said in a statement.

Founded in 2014, KKday connects travelers to 300,000 local tours and activities in over 90 countries. It currently has 900 employees in 12 offices across Asia.

The startup also operates Rezio, a software-as-a-service system for travel firms. KKday said that the solution has been used by more than 2,000 merchants so far.

In the past 2.5 years, the company has raised US$95 million in series C funding from Cool Japan Fund, National Development Fund, and TGVest Capital, among others.
