JobStreet Express launches in Singapore for ‘semi-skilled’ workers

Seek, the Australian employment platform that owns JobStreet, has launched JobStreet Express for employers to find “semi-skilled” workers in Singapore.

According to Anshu Nahar, managing director of Express and Flex at Seek, the company prefers the term “semi-skilled” over blue collar as it “acknowledges the nature of foundational knowledge, training, and experience required to do the job.” JobStreet Express focuses on the skills needed for a job so that it can better match employers with prospective applicants.

The platform aims to deliver relevant candidates to employers within two or three days of a job posting.

In October 2022, the company launched the same service in Indonesia, which has onboarded 29,000 companies and 425,000 job hunters within a year.

According to Seek, the semi-skilled segment makes up more than 40% of job vacancies in Singapore.

“The semi-skilled segment has traditionally been underserved. People in this segment often resort to unstructured and sometimes unsafe means to find jobs and talent,” Nahar added.

JobStreet Express is competing against several players in the space such as FastCo in Singapore and Lumina in Indonesia.
