Vietnamese recruitment platform TopDev gets 7-digit investment
Vietnam-based IT recruitment platform TopDev announced that it has secured a seven-digit strategic investment from SaraminHR, a publicly listed job recruitment firm in South Korea.
This round is part of SaraminHR’s global market expansion plan, according to a statement.

“With this new funding, we will continue to improve TopDev’s service quality and develop new values for our customers, while still continuing to enhance other ambitious goals besides the recruitment functions, such as increasing the developers’ supply for the market through training, developing IT career programs for young people, students, and freshers,” said Nguyen Huu Binh, CEO and founder at TopDev.
Founded in 2015, the company says it possesses 300,000 developer profiles and serves customers that are mostly tech companies in Vietnam and the region.
In the last three years, the demand for programming personnel has increased 1.5x each year, according to TopDev. Vietnam currently has between 350,000 and 400,000 developers, but only 20% of them are active in finding new opportunities on job search sites. It causes a shortage of 70,000 to 90,000 in 2019, according to TopDev’s IT market report. Vietnam’s demand is expected to reach 500,000 until 2021, which will result in a shortage of up to 190,000 by then.
With the partnership, TopDev and SaraminHR aim to solve Vietnam’s IT human resources supply-demand problem, discover and nurture Vietnamese talent, and expand to Southeast Asia in the future.
