Grab’s loyalty scheme members get discount lounge access, other airport perks

Grab has further expanded its GrabRewards loyalty program with a host of perks for its platinum- and gold-tier members who are traveling by airplane.

The Singapore-based unicorn has signed deals with over 150 partners “in all of the major airports across Southeast Asia,” including the Lion City’s own Changi Airport.

Among the benefits are discount access to almost 70 passenger lounges, with up to 55% knocked off the usual entry price.

These include the pay-per-use, non-airline-affiliated Plaza Premium Lounge, Ambassador Lounges, Blossoms Lounge, and Plaza Premium Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport.

GrabRewards’ platinum and gold members will also get up to 20% off at more than 80 food and beverage outlets, including The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck, Hudson Coffee, Pret a Manger, and Tiger Den at Changi.

Users can get their hands on the benefits by redeeming GrabRewards points in the Grab app.

“Grab data shows the national airport consistently comes up as one of the top pick-up points in Singapore and across the region. With travel as being such an important part of our customers’ lives, we now aim to provide a great overall experience for Southeast Asia’s road warriors and savvy trippers,” said Gillian Ang, head of marketing, Grab Singapore.

Grab partnered with flag carrier Singapore Airlines in November 2017 to integrate their respective loyalty programs. This enabled the ride-hailing service’s users to convert GrabRewards points into air miles with the airline’s Krisflyer frequent flyer program.

It later added similar partnerships with Cebu Pacific, Garuda Indonesia, Thai Airways, and Vietnam Airlines. Grab also teamed up with its investor Booking Holdings to offer discounted hotel rooms to gold and platinum GrabRewards members.

Earlier this year, Grab introduced subscription plans aimed at tying in customers with discounted ride-hailing trips and food delivery.
