Hello reader,
Momentum is such an underrated factor when building habits. The reluctance to make that first trip to the gym is immense, but after doing it daily for two weeks, it becomes a natural part of the schedule.
Likewise, the first steps when you go on a run always feel heavy and take a lot of effort, but you’ll glide down the pavement and clock in the miles before long.
That might explain how the firms on today’s premium article on Israeli startups have managed to raise so much funding – maybe that first round started the ball rolling in just the right way.
Today we look at:
- The 50 top-funded startups and tech companies in Israel
- The oversubscribed pre-seed round of an Indonesian social job startup
- Other newsy highlights such as Lazada’s troubles with the Thai monarchy and the US$95 million series B round of an Indonesian used-car platform

I wish my bank account got this much funding

I just came back from three weeks of military reservist training. As you might expect, we were provided with free food and board. I personally think the food has improved quite a bit since my full-time military days.
But the main thing here is the money saved. I don’t eat extravagantly, but eliminating three weeks’ worth of food expenditure helps a lot regardless.
Of course, if I received cash injections like the Israeli startups on today’s premium article did, I wouldn’t need to worry about any of this.
- Locking things down: In Israel, there’s one clear dominant industry: five of the top 10 most funded firms on our list all offer security solutions of some sort.
-
No chump change: With the list ordered by how much funding each startup has received, you might think that the company in last place has only raised a few hundred thousand dollars. Well, renewable energies firm StoreDot occupies that spot, and it has raised US$80 million.
