Founded in 2019, HD connects patients to hospitals, clinics, operating rooms, and surgeons through its marketplace called HDmall, which is available in Thailand and Indonesia.

In November 2022, the startup launched HDcare, considered the “Airbnb for surgeries.” The solution aims to boost occupancies of operating rooms, which HD says see low usage rates across private institutions.

According to the company, patients getting procedures such as thyroid, hemorrhoid, and orthopedic surgery can get 15% to 20% better pricing options versus market rates through HDcare.

HD aims to have over 5,000 healthcare providers and 300 operating rooms available on its platforms by 2024.

“As we put the pandemic behind us, our investors and us see a once-in-a-lifetime supply-driven opportunity in HDcare that is very similar to how companies like Airbnb, Uber, and Groupon leveraged supply and emerged from the 2008 financial crisis,” said Sheji Ho, CEO and co-founder of HD.
