Invest in smart TV games, eSports, and robotics for the future, says Kongzhong founder Nick Yang

At Mobile Game Asia 2014 last Friday, attendees were treated to a special keynote. Nick Yang of Lebox Capital and also the founder of Chinese mobile and gaming giant Kongzhong, took to the stage to give sound very sound advice on how to invest in China’s game market.

The second-youngest person in the world to launch an IPO (the youngest person ever being Mark Zuckerberg), Yang said that he was looking at three things.

The Playstation 4 and Xbox One are very fancy and awesome, but that’s too high end. These Android boxes are cool and harmless, and are the things that can kill the giants, just like mobile games. Mobile games use to be harmless, the screens were too small and the games were too crude. And look at where they are now?
Smart TV games, Yang said, are becoming more and more powerful.

eSports is the future of sports. In the future, people won’t watch these human [sports] players any more…and the Olympics will become eSports. If you say I’m crazy, just remember in 1999, I was telling people that in five to six years, their lives would be totally transformed by the Internet. The way you do everything…will be changed. And they called me a crazy guy, they said, the internet is only for geeks. But today?
