In brief: Indonesia’s Warung Pintar acquires agritech startup Limakilo
Micro-retail startup Warung Pintar officially announced the acquisition of Limakilo, a platform that streamlines the food supply chain by connecting farmers to food stalls and food vendors.
With this acquisition, thousands of Warung Pintar stalls in Jakarta, Depok, Tangerang, and Banyuwangi will get direct access to sell staple food items at their digital-based stalls.
“With the supply of agricultural products from Limakilo, stall owners will have a more diverse stock of goods, namely staple food and basic commodities,” said Agung Bezharie Hadinegoro, co-founder and CEO of Warung Pintar. “High demand for staple food in the community will certainly increase the income of stall owners. In return, farmers will have a better selling price and wider access to the market.”

The acquisition amount was not disclosed. Both Warung Pintar and Limakilo count Indonesian VC firm East Ventures as an investor.
Warung Pintar, which means “smart kiosk” in Indonesian, develops digitally enabled, prefabricated roadside kiosks that are managed by micro-entrepreneurs. Starting out with two kiosks in January 2018, the company now has 1,150 across the Greater Jakarta area.
Just last month, Warung Pintar raised a US$27.5 million series B round from investors such as EV Growth, Line Ventures, and Ovo, Grab’s mobile payments partner in Indonesia.
