GoTo announces management reshuffle

Gojek co-founder Kevin Aluwi has stepped down from GoTo’s board of commissioners but will retain his voting shares in the company.

The Indonesian super app has announced several changes to its leadership structure to strengthen “operational efficiency.”

Anthony Wijaya will also step down from the GoTo board of directors to focus more on his role as Tokopedia COO.

William Tanuwijaya, co-founder of Tokopedia, will also relinquish his executive responsibilities at the ecommerce platform, while continuing to serve GoTo Group as commissioner and co-chairman.

Patrick Sugito Walujo, co-founder and managing partner at Northstar Group, will be appointed to GoTo’s board of commissioners.

Patrick Cao, president of GoTo Group, will manage the GoTo Future Fund to support the company’s goal of “Three Zeroes” (zero emissions, zero waste, zero barriers) by 2030.

The group also said it has started the process of combining delivery and fulfillment capabilities across Gojek and Tokopedia under GoTo Logistics. Kevin Widlansky, CEO of Swift Fulfillment and Logistics, a subsidiary of the super app, will lead GoTo Logistics as Head.

GoTo Group, formed through the merger of Gojek and Tokopedia, posted a 30% year-on-year jump in revenue to 5.9 trillion rupiah (around US$375 million) for Q3 2022. Its loss for the quarter, however, widened by 19% compared to the same period last year.

In November 2022, the group slashed 12% of its workforce, or about 1,300 jobs, amid the economic downturn. GoTo group CEO Andre Soelistyo said at the time that the decision was made “thoughtfully and with care.”
