oDesk bridges talent gap in Australia with oDesk Upstarts

Online freelancer marketplace oDesk today launches oDesk Upstarts in Australia, a startup accelerator partnership program that helps startups hire the right freelancers, on top of receiving mentorship from oDesk executives.

oDesk Upstarts currently has Melbourne-based accelerator AngelCube and Sydney-based accelerators Pollenizer and Startmate on board, providing their members with $200 worth of oDesk credits and $400 worth of recruitment support. With these credits, startup founders can now concentrate their efforts on their core work, and delegate their work to online freelancers from oDesk in areas they are not familiar with. They will also have access to online recruiters who can help streamline the startups’ needs, job descriptions, and shortlist applicants who fit the job.

And the partnership doesn’t stop there. The oDesk executive team will also provide mentorship to these startups, which includes areas of fundraising, monetization, sales, marketing, and hiring, even if it means meeting them online or offline.

In essence, the program aims to address four pain points that startups face:

1. Recruiting the right talent at affordable rates
2. Recruiting only when the need arises
3. Delegating tasks, allowing startup founders to focus on their core work
4. Minimizing risks of experimenting with new features and prototypes
