education edutech india

India’s online test preparation platform Toppr has acquired EasyPrep, a customized exam paper creation platform for schools, coaching institutes, and teachers. The company did not reveal the financial details of the transaction.

Exam papers created on EasyPrep are usually made for classroom teaching. It also helps students prepare for examinations.

While Toppr serves the IIT JEE entrance exams aspirants and pre-medical test takers, EasyPrep is a platform for K-12 (kindergarten to 12th grade) students. The acquisition also gives Toppr access to talent.

“EasyPrep team has built a great team and have deep understanding of the K-12 segment. Having their team onboard gives us more ammunition to execute our plans faster,” said Zishaan Hayath, co-founder and CEO of Toppr.

Adding analytics

Toppr provides students insights into their strong and weak areas through which they can effectively decide where to invest their time in practicing for the entrance examination.

Their prediction tool reveals what rank can the student get based on their current performance and suggests methods to improve their scores.

It claims to have more than 100,000 students across the country using their platform. This month, they have a run rate to cross three million practiced questions on its platform.

Last year, Toppr raised US$2 million in a seed round from Helion Venture Partners and SAIF Partners.

According to the company, the entrance exam preparation market for K12 students is valued at US$8 billion and growing 20 percent every year.

Another firm in the space Embibe.com earlier acquired 100Marks, a student guidance platforms for JEE mains, JEE advanced, and medical exams.
